Did you know that June is National Safety Month? Injuries are a leading cause of disability for people of all ages, and the leading cause of death in Americans aged 1 to 44. You can make a difference by spreading the word about ways to reduce the risk of injuries in the workplace and how to stay safe.
How To Stay Safe
–Ensure all employees are properly trained in all areas at the workplace, especially with tools they are/will be using.
–Keep emergency numbers handy and available to everyone.
–Dress appropriately, anything from protective eyewear to tied shoelaces can help you avoid an injury.
–Train each individual on what precautions to take, as well as how to handle the situation if an accident does occur.
–Often overlooked, good housekeeping. A clean environment to work in prevents slips, falls, and much more. It also makes it easier to locate important equipment and safety gear.
–Make sure every person knows where the first aid kits and emergency exits are located.
Encourage communities, workplaces, families, and your co-workers to identify and report safety hazards. Remember, it’s better to be safe than sorry! Did we miss any tips? Let us know!
